So I’ve now watch a bazillion videos and read a gazillion articles on the subject at hand but I think this is one of the more useful ones. It covers everything and gets straight to the point. She knows her stuff and I’d be interested to hear more from her. I’ve written a ton of notes from this one talk alone but in particular I like how she phrases “the culture is a mass perpetrator” against boys and girls alike. She cites the three A’s of demand as accessibility, affordability and anonymity and gives us the mental statistic that porn sites get more clicks in a month than Amazon, Netflix and Twitter combined – which is brought up in like three other talks I’ve watched too.
What really struck me though is the bit at the end of the talk when she mentions that an arm of pro-porn lobbying managed to fight the rule that you couldn’t use girls who looked underage in porn content and then overnight the internet was flooded with what is essentially child pornography, incest and statutory rape if not out right rape. In so many of these really interesting, some scientific or sociological, talks people mention that the content is almost always violent and that it often depicts girls who are either under age or deliberately look so. But no one seems to want to touch upon the reason why. Why is it sexy to want to fuck young girls? I don’t understand. Why is it sexy to want to abuse young girls? I don’t understand.
