As mentioned before I am working on the instagram platform for the project. I am reworking the account of my previous business The Minefield (a feminist consciousness raising meeting up group, platform and network in north London)and essentially broadening and rebranding the platform. I have decided to keep it nice and broad and after ages of not being able to come up with a cool and witty name have just gone for a pretty self explanatory one! The platform will highlight many facets of feminist parenting as well as sharing examples of art as facilitation for conversation (from the workshops etc), resources like books, websites and organisations and other people who are also doing vital work in this area. There are lots of people and resources out there but it is my experience so far that many just don’t know where to start. In an effort to move beyond workshops myself I will try and use the platform to connect all those dots and create something unique (so far I haven’t found anything that does this specific idea as yet) and I hope it will work in a more outward facing way rather than me trying to gather in people to workshops etc if that makes sense.
I also am conscious of not letting the momentum I have already created dissipate. By this I mean that in the work I have been doing in this area for the last 5/6 years as well as during MAAI means I am constantly being hit up for advice on resources and many people have expressed a want for a longer or more regular series’ of workshops and meet-ups since people have responded to them so positively. Through the platform I hope to keep those people involved/interested until such time as I can provide more continuous events and hopefully act as a helpful go-to resource rather than me individually responding to questions all the time which is time consuming.
I know that many of those stakeholders are Gen X and older millennial and therefore not on insta so I’ll also link it all to Facebook which is more typically used by that age bracket. I think that this will be a great way to consolidate all the different aspects of what I am doing as well as giving me a more solid base for then reaching out to people for conversations and collaboration. It also is a good way to springboard lots of different threads enquiry and projects.
