Workshops change up

We had very little uptake on the collage workshop last Thursday so we’re changing up the format and are doing a drop-in at the gallery where there will be collage and conversation but not a formal discussion. I sort of saw this coming in that my smaller parent network here in Brighton (if this were London I think I would have had more interest) just isn’t really doing much of anything at the moment. It’s coming into the busiest time of year for parents and everyone is worried about xmas. The best time really, in my experience at least, is to get parents in the spring up until towards the summer holidays. Anyway, the timing of all this is what it is and can’t be helped so there you go. Generally there is a willingness to commit to things and I have read and heard various discussions about parental burnout and the impact of covid on socialising in general for this age group. I feel it myself so I totally understand.

I also have very little connection to student networks here also but the gallery have been great and the artists who participated. I am looking forward to finally meeting some of them in person eventually! I have hopefully a mini social happening on Thursday so we will see what happens with that, it only needs a handful of people and I think the conversation will be really good.

I had the idea today that I think is potentially too late to execute but I might try, to contact some Sex Ed teachers and try and have a session with them in the space also. I don’t know why I haven’t done this already!?
