So I have some ideas that I am exploring when it comes to what’s next for interventions. Even since I first put this list together I have gone back and forth on what’s going and what’s staying. Initially I was thinking about making some of the resources that sprung out of conversations in the workshops, they seem like logical next steps and fairly achievable in the grand scheme of things. Some audio recording about a piece of art work that you can listen to as you look at the work, maybe at Tate or some other free permanent collection for obvs access reasons. Another idea in this context was that of making a postcard book or series, where the back of the art work image has info about the art and themes etc and then the accompanying page could have info on how this relates to conversations you may have with your child. A series of arts based prompts for conversation that stems naturally from the images and not awkwardly like a lot of sex ed. I love the idea of making a zine of some kind and considered making a glossary of terms for parents perhaps also.
I have a lot of interest here in Brighton for continued workshops with parents so I am currently looking for spaces to do these and initially will just try to use the same starting points and see what happens. This is partly because I think it will be interesting to see how and if the responses differ with a different demographic of parents. I have also been throwing around an idea for a while now based on creating safe spaces for tweens in the town centre of Brighton. I’ll probably write about it later in its own rambling post as I am still at odds with some elements of the idea and also a lot unsure of how to proceed with it as yet. I want to also get the framework for recorded conversations going, I’ve been saying it and putting it off as I haven’t been entirely sure what it is I would say about what I am doing enough to explain and didn’t want to reach out to certain people or stakeholders until I was more sure. I just need to get on with this and stop dragging my heels.
And lastly, is there any way I can give people the “good” ethical porn for free as some sort of comparison testing!!?!? How would you even measure this?! But I think if people pick organic veggies, vegan leather and a third of people now drink non-dairy milk then they might just choose to buy the ethical porn instead too if you make the right case.
